Brian Haines joined head coach Shawn Clark’s staff as the running backs coach/special teams coordinator with the Mountaineers in January 2020.
App State’s special teams excelled in several areas, highlighted by Jalen Virgil’s go-ahead kickoff return of 100 yards in the fourth quarter of a road win against Georgia Southern, and the Mountaineers were the only FBS team in the country to have four running backs rush for at least 500 yards in 2020.
The purpose of this post is not to say that you should do the drills exactly as they do, but that they hopefully will give you some ideas for drills to use to teach and rehearse your coaching points for your team.
