Block Destruction the Wildcat Way
- Effort to the ball is key for defensive success.
- It is ok to get blocked… it is never ok to be blocked,
- Loaf accountabilities are carried into block destruction.
- It must be important to coaches at all times.
- There is a developed skill set to train players for success.
Coaching Points–Block Destruction
- Proper foot placement is vital when attacking the blocker.
- Lead with the inside foot to blockkers outside foot, while keeping outside leg back with toes parallel to the line of scrimmage.
Coaching Points–Blow Delivery
- Defender must focus on the blocker… attack the blocker with VIOLENT hands. Inside hands to the middle of the blocker. Outside hand to the outside shoulder.
- Defender’s eyes must be lower than blocker’s eyes with focus on hand placement targets.
- Deliver a blow to blocker to neutralize and control him with your hands.
