Leverage Defined: A balanced position of power
In all 3 planes of movement:
- Front to Back (Vertical)
- Frontal/Lateral (Horizontal)
- Transverse (Rotational)
Goal of a Productive/Dominant Block
- Break the defenders leverage. Their position of power-in 1, 2, or all 3 planes. Dominate by destroying their leverage.
- By maintaining our leverage (Position of Power) in 3 planes. Power from Posture.
Create Leverage and a Balanced Position of Power
- “3-45s.” A 45 degree angle in the hip, in the knee, and in the ankle.
- That creates shin angles to apply force equal and opposite for vertical movement.
- 45 degrees is the angle to create optimal balance between power and movement.
- Coordinates all joints for maximal power synergy–joint centration.
- Creates optimal foot frequency to allow the blocker to move with optimal efficiency, rhythm, and pace.
- Allows hips to surge.
