Defense has Changed:
🏈Bend don’t break; isn’t a winning formula anymore.
🏈Can’t defend it all against a well coached spread team. – They attack all parts of the field.
🏈Have to create negative plays & turnovers.
🏈 No one fears a conservative defense!
🏈Can not dictate to them unless they fear you.
🏈Take out aspects of their offense because you are willing to roll the dice.
Lower the Risk with Preparation
🏈 Is it sound?
- Contained on both sides?
- Can you cover behind it?
- Does it take away their blitz answer?
- What adjustments do the fly to players need to make if it is run on a pass blitz or pass on a run blitz?
- Have you practiced these scenarios?
🏈 Attack Pass Protection vs. your front.
- Big on Big
- Zone
- Combo
- Fan
- Empty
- Run game. Know their rules.
🏈 Attack their weak links.
- Who chases on the OL?
- Does the RB Pass Pro well?
- Who do they have to help?
🏈 Is it worth calling?
- Does it create a turnover opportunity vs. the play you think is coming
- Is it solid vs. their top plays?
