Covering good receivers is an extremely difficult task. One misstep can give the receiver all that he needs to get separation. To be an effective defensive back a player needs above average atleticism and great technique. In the video clip below Harlon Barnett, Michigan State University co-defensive coordinator and associate head coach and former NFL player, details two of his “One Line” drills that he puts defensive backs through at practice. The drills stress posture and quick feet, which are two essential skills for developing championship-caliber safeties and cornerbacks.
