Kyle Schmitt
Head Football Coach
Archbishop Spalding High School, Md.
Coach Schmitt begins his presentation discussing how explosive plays decrease the chances of a drive killing mistake. The more plays in a drive the higher the chance of player error, penalty, negative play or turnover. Coach shares how explosive plays are created through players, tempo, and multiple play packages to keep the defense guessing.
Coach talks how to create explosive plays by first putting the ball in to the hands of your skill players and have what coach calls “Shot Plays” and what plays and what circumstances tend to be better situationally. Coach Schmitt shares the 4 types of “Shot Plays” he runs in the following packages that he calls Play Action Packages, Follow Plays, Run Pass options, and Trick Plays.
Kyle does an excellent job explaining the situations that he like to run explosive plays and how he sets them up and provides illustrations on exactly how these plays are run.
