He breaks the field into the three zones because the things that happen in each of those zones is a little different.
He has found that in their red zone area, teams will play coverage. Once TAM got into the “Tight Zone” teams would come after them to create negative plays. When they get inside the 5 if it is a passing situation, they will get a seven across look with Tampa 2.
They scout each of their opponents as to how they will be defended in each of the zones.
What they tell their teams in the three zones:
🏈No turnovers
🏈No penalties
🏈No sacks (Stay in field goal range)
🏈You are working in smaller spaces with tighter windows
🏈Use the entire end zone
