Utilizing Play Action off of 4 & 5-Man Slide Protection out of the Spread/Wing-T

August 9, 2017 by

Troy McAllister
Head Football Coach
Wendell Phillips Academy, Ill.

Coach McAllister begins his presentation talking about how and why you would use slide protection with 4 and 5-man slide. Quarterback and Running Back mesh for play action passes, screens, roll out pass, and Naked boot. Coach explains why you would use a slide protection which accounts for all gaps and if a wide rusher comes off the edge the quarterback can account for him. Coach also explains how slide protection eliminates confusion with exotic blitzes. Coach Wendall provides an excellent presentation explaining slide protection using illustrations and actual game film to assist in understanding 4 and 5 man slides.
