THE TIMING OF YOUR FUNDRAISER: PRE-SEASON, IN-SEASON, OR POST-SEASON?
You should consider the following when deciding when to hold your team’s fundraiser:
- When do you need your money? For example, if you need your money to cover in-season expenses, consider running your fundraiser during your pre-season.
- Decide on the type of fundraiser you want to run.
- Determination how much work and coordination will be involved. If there is a lot of that involved, it is probably not a good in-season project. Do keep in mind that you will more than likely get lower participation if you
- Will the weather have an impact on your fundraiser? (Golf outings, carwashes, and other outdoor fundraisers are weather dependent)
- If you have your fundraiser after the season is over, you could lose some athletes (and their parents) who will be graduating. Some of your returning atheltes will more than likely be involved in other sports and not available to help with your fundraiser.
